A convicted paedophile will spend more than a decade behind bars after being sentenced for a raft of further sexual offences on three young victims.
Trevor Richard Hall, 62, was today sentenced at the High Court in Rotorua to 11 years and 3 months' imprisonment, after previously pleading guilty to a series of sexual charges relating to three victims over a period of about 14 years.
He admitted two counts of attempted sexual violation, two counts of indecent acts on a child between 12 and 16 years, three counts of indecent acts with intent to insult or offend, along with one charge of assault on a child and two of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection.
The youngest of his victims was aged between 6 and 7 at the time of offending.
Two of the victims read their victim impact statements to the court.
Before handing down his sentence Justice Mark Woolford said it was clear the offending had a significant and permanent impact on his victims.
"The victim statements make it clear the great harm that you caused them. Your offending cast a long and permanent shadow over their lives."
Justice Woolford said Hall had a record of this type of offending.
He has four previous convictions for sexual offences in New Zealand and 15 similar convictions in Queensland in Australia, he said.
When handing down his sentence Justice Woolford took into account Hall's ill health and age.
