A new police District Commander for the Bay of Plenty District will be welcomed in a powhiri at Tamatekapua Marae, Ohinemutu next Monday.
Superintendent Andy McGregor joins the district from the South Island where his most recent role was Canterbury Metro Commander.
He was recruited from Christchurch in 1980 and has held a number of senior positions in Canterbury District, but is no stranger to the North Island having spent a number of years policing in Auckland and Gisborne.
He was also the National Manager Communications based at Police National Headquarters in Wellington between 2008 and 2012.
The outgoing Superintendent Glenn Dunbier was promoted to Deputy Commissioner in September.
