Engineers have been onsite at the Domain Rd bridge damaged in an arson attack last week.
New Zealand Transport Agency Waikato/Bay of Plenty regional director Harry Wilson said they were there for a preliminary look and would start investigating the reinforcing inside the concrete over the next few days to see if it has been impacted by the heat from the fire.
"At this stage we expect to get a final report which will detail the damage, the cost and any long term effect on the Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) project in early December.
"We will keep the public informed once we know more details, we know the community is as passionate as we are about this project."
