You can have your say on how Tauranga City Council deal with trees as Tauranga City Council calls for public feedback.
The Draft Vegetation and Tree Management Policy, which covers all trees on Council-owned or administered land, including parks, reserves and roadsides, has gone out for public consultation.
The proposed changes include introducing the OPALS (Ogren Plant Allergy Scale) and an annual pollen calendar to provide more consistent measures to assess tree issues, and more consideration of social well-being - striking a balance between the public benefit and amenity of trees and the negative impacts. The changes do not affect Notable trees, which are covered in the City Plan.
