Big rig trucks will be parked at Mount Main Beach today for an hour to collect donations for the family of Jack Dixon.
Organiser Kyle Quin said six or seven big rig trucks would drive as close as they could get to the Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service on Saturday morning between 9am and 10am.
Mr Quin, a truck driver with Halls Transport, rallied together support nationwide earlier this week by flying black ribbons from this truck and encouraging others to do likewise in memory of Jack.
The truckies have been shaking buckets with Jack's picture on them for donatoins at key loading and unloading points such as the Port of Tauranga and Maunganui Maunganui Wharf.
Mr Quin said he has been blown away with the generosity shown already, including individual donations of $50.
The money was raised to help Jack Dixon's family and complements a Givealittle webpage set up to raise money for the same cause.
