Tauranga MP Simon Bridges has formally been sworn into Parliament as a minister.
Mr Bridges joined members of the National Party's new cabinet line-up in a swearing in ceremony today at Government House.
Mr Bridges has been named as Minister of Transport, Deputy Leader of the House and associate Minster of Justice. He also retains his Minister of Energy and Resources portfolio and is associate Minister of Climate Change Issues.
Mr Bridges' former portfolio as Minister of Labour appears to have been removed as part of the reshuffle.
The formal tradtional affair was great, despite some nerves, Mr Bridges said.
''I didn't want to be the only guy who would trip up going on stage or read my Oath of Allegiance incorrectly but fortunatly I got through it all without a hitch,'' he said.
Lieutenant General and Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae helped officiate the ceremony with Prime Minister John Key.
The ceremony was attended by about 25 media organisations.
