Two caught after Gate Pa theft

9.44am: Two men are in police custody after police responded to reports of a burglary in Gate Pa this morning.

Tauranga and Greerton police were called to the address in Rimu St about 8.25am.

Greerton Acting Sergeant Adrian Tukaki thanked the locals for their quick thinking and response to contact police.

The man and the youth were caught after a brief foot chase by police and were now being interviewed and processed, he said.

The stolen property had been recovered and police were still investigating the details to determine if it was a theft or burglary, Mr Tukaki said.

He said charges were looking possible but yet to be determined.

8.35am: Police have been called to reports of a burglary in Gate Pa this morning.

Police received a call this morning from a resident who reported property being taken from a neighbouring house.

Police chased a person on foot, Inspector Ian Brooker.
