Police hunt for two men in Tauriko

11.53am: Two separate car crashes on Birch Ave and Waihi Rd have kept police busy this morning.

Senior Sergeant Eddie Lyttle confirmed there had been two crashes but could not say how, and if, they were related to the man hunt.


11.39am: Police dogs and dog handlers have been seen on River Oaks Drive, a reporter at the scene says.

A Rowe Motors tow truck has also just turned up.


10.54am: Police are reported to be looking for two men in the Tauriko area.

A Tauriko Caltex staff member said police had come in to warn them of two men in the area on foot.

"They're chasing two guys who are on foot.

"They told us to make sure people take their keys out of the car when they come into the shop."
