They are on the cusp of securing the Northern Region Football League Division Two title, have a new sponsor on board and made a meritorious run to the fourth round in the Chatham Cup.
But the brightest spot for Belvedere Group Tauranga City United might just be the creation of a club atmosphere that has young players lining up to play at Links Avenue.
Otumoetai College student Will Clague, a well-liked player on the local volleyball scene, has shown what application can do at the rebuilding club.
The diminutive right-back has been targeted by opposition sides in the last month, leaving captain Sam O'Regan rapt with the youngster's effort.
"I haven't bigged him up, but this boy has come in and been so patient," O'Regan said.
"He's trained Tuesday and Thursday, sat on the bench time after time, and refused to play for the second team because he wanted to stick with us because he knew he was good enough.
"He got his chance and came in for some of the toughest games in the league supposedly, and he's been brilliant."
Clague was especially impressive in the Blues' most recent 3-0 home win against Forrest Hill-Milford, holding his ground despite a disproportionate amount of play coming down his side.
"He deserves a lot of credit," O'Regan said.
"This was a game he could have hid from - young guys tend to do that - but he showed that he is strong."
Clague is relishing his time at the club, but still plays for his school when he can.
"When I play for the club I don't play with those boys because I have to rest up," Clague said.
"When I can I will but my main focus at the moment is with these boys and trying to secure my spot in the team. It's definitely a step up."
