Forestry worker injured by rolling log

A man hit in the head by a rolling log was flown to hospital by the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter.

The rescue helicopter was called to Te Kaha medical centre yesterday afternoon to uplift a 33-year-old forestry worker with serious head injury after he was hit by a rolling log.

The man was injured about 4pm and was driven to the medical centre by ambulance from Waihau Bay.

The patient was flown to Whakatane Hospital for further treatment.
