Six in hospital after crash in Maketu

UPDATED 9.45pm: A person has been flown to Tauranga Hospital by rescue helicopter tonight after being cut from a vehicle involved in a crash at Maketu.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Maketu Rd and Kelly Rd at 8.20pm for reports of a collision between a car and van.

A Fire Service northern communications spokesperson said five other people had been transported to hospital by ambulance.


EARLIER 8.54pm: A person is trapped in a vehicle after a crash in Maketu tonight.

A Fire Service northern communications spokesperson said the crash was at the intersection of Maketu Rd and Kelly Rd.

The Tauranga rescue helicopter was on its way to the scene, she said.

Maketu fire fighters were attending the crash along with police and St John, she said.
