It was a family trifecta for this year's supreme winner of the Shiseido Fashions in the Field competition at Tauranga Racecourse yesterday.
Anna Campbell took the supreme prize and first place in the Augustine International Women's Classic Racewear section for her classic cream summer cape dress designed by her and made by her mother, Valwyn Harman.
Mrs Harman took second place in the Classic Racewear section and second place in the Bernina Design Award for her own outfit.
Mrs Campbell's daughter and Mrs Harman's granddaughter, Eleanor Campbell, took out second place in the Augustine International Women's High Fashion section.
All three outfits had elements made by Mrs Harman, who didn't take up sewing until the three woman recently became interested in raceday fashion competitions and adopted them as a hobby.
Mrs Campbell said her inspiration for her outfit design came from seeing a picture of a winter-style cape dress and hoping to try something different by designing a summer version.
She said she started her outfit with a pair of cream and gold shoes from Melbourne and the dress came last.
"The hat is a Natalie Chan hat that I won at the Boxing Day races two years ago at Ellerslie."
Gunning for the top spot in the Classic Racewear section, she said she knew she wanted to stick to cream and gold.
Her biggest decision now is who to take with her on the luxury spa weekend in Rotorua that she won.
"Those two will be fighting over who comes with me," she laughed, pointing to her mother and daughter.
She qualified for the national Fashions in the Field competition in Ellerslie, Auckland, next year.
Judges' decisions were based on: style, originality, understanding, and interpretation of current fashion trends; attention to detail with accessories, grooming and deportment; and appropriateness of the outfit to a premier raceday. The event was sponsored by indulge, the luxury Saturday lifestyle magazine of the Bay of Plenty Times Weekend.
