The predicted interest rise will mean fewer family activities and cutting back on household basics for Bay woman Judy Waters.
While many Bay homeowners fixed their mortgage rates in anticipation of the hike, Mrs Waters said she had kept her mortgage floating as they hoped to sell their property.
Mrs Waters said she was unaware of the predicted rise and would have to cut down on "bread and milk" to counter the hike.
"That could be money that could go towards household costs, when you're struggling anyway to make ends meet.
"I reckon they should leave it (the rise) another year."
Mrs Waters said the extra 20 or so dollars a week would normally buy bread, milk and pay some of their power bill.
