A Tauranga man, who went on the run after failing to appear in court on Monday, was arrested overnight and has been charged in the relation to vicious attacks on two women.
Zane Courtney, 24, who was found by police hiding at a property in Waihi yesterday, faced a raft of charges when he appeared in Tauranga District Court this morning.
That includes three charges of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and one charge each of aggravated burglary and threatens to kill.
Courtney who was remanded in custody, is due back in court on Monday to make a bail application.
Police allege Courtney's assaulted two women on September 9, one in Papamoa after he forced his way into the woman's home and the other in Mount Maunganui.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Brazier said the two women, who both received serious facial injuries and were hospital overnight, were known to Courtney.
Courtney was also wanted by police in relation to other unrelated charges.
