Work to build a new roundabout near Paengaroa is progressing.
The roundabout is being built as part of efforts to make the intersection at State Highway 2 and State Highway 30 safer.
New Zealand Transport Agency highways manager Brett Gliddon said the intersection had a poor crash history and was one of the most dangerous intersections in the Bay of Plenty.
The roundabout is 58m in diameter and is expected to be operational next year.
