Teen stabbed at birthday party

A male teenager accused of stabbing another teen in the side in Te Puna during an out-of-control party on Saturday evening is due to appear in Tauranga District Court today.

Acting Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter said the person had been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, intentional damage, possession of LSD and possession of the drug for supply.

The victim was understood to be in stable condition in Tauranga Hospital.

Mr Hunter said police arrived to shut down the 16th birthday party about 1am yesterday, which got out of control after gatecrashers turned up.
