Three Tauranga residents appeared in court facing allegations they robbed a veterinary clinic armed with blunt-edged weapons and stole cash, drugs and property.
Lucy Jane Kellick, 26, and Cathy Anne Davies, 33, who faced joint charges of aggravated robbery when they appeared in Tauranga District Court today, have both been released on bail subject to strict conditions. That includes a nightly curfew and a ban on going within 1km of the Brookfield shopping centre.
Alleged co-offender Colin Thomas Borthwick, 33, who also faces a charge of aggravated robbery, did not seek bail and was remanded in custody by Judge Peter Rollo. Police have opposed bail for Borthwick.
None of the trio have yet entered pleas to the charges and are due back in court on August 12.
Police allege a man and a woman entered the clinic at Brookfield shops on Otumoetai Rd about 5.25pm yesterday and got away with a small amount of cash after threatening a staff member. Court documents reveal drugs and property were also allegedly taken.
Police say the alleged robbers got into a dark-coloured vehicle driven by a third person.
Police stopped the vehicle a short time later and arrested three people.
