Deadline draws near for future of coastline

Deadline draws near Residents have only until Friday to tell the Bay of Plenty Regional Council what they want for the future of their coastline.

The draft plan to manage coastal water quality, natural character and infrastructure opened for public input in mid-May.

Changes include an integrated management section that updated information about specific sites.

Revised harbour development zone provisions include specific policies for Tauranga, Whakatane and Opotiki.

Feedback will be collated and analysed, and a proposed regional coastal environment plan will be prepared and released for submissions this year. Visit for more information.
