Car crashes backwards down bank

A woman was taken to hospital after her car rolled backwards down a bank.

Police and ambulance officers were called to the property where the car was wedged in Waikite Rd, Welcome Bay about 8.30am this morning.

The car rolled backwards down a metre high bank before coming to stop against the side of a aluminium shed.

Senior Constable Steve Murray said a woman had pulled into the driveway opposite and was getting out when the accident took place.

"She's put it into park, gone to hop out to get some stuff and knocked the gear stick and either put it into nuetral or reverse," he said.

A young boy was strapped into a safety seat in the car at the time of the crash. He was uninjured.

The woman was taken to hospital to be checked after banging her head.
