Hunter stuck in bush overnight flown to hospital

A hunter fell and was stuck in bush overnight before he was airlifted to hospital this morning.

The man got in trouble last night in isolated Bay of Plenty bush.

Emergency services were called last night to remote terrain near White Pine Bush. Paramedics kept the man company while waiting for the helicopter, which could not fly to the location overnight.

A BayTrust Rescue Helicopter from Rotorua winched the man 30 metres up and flew him to Whakatane Hospital.

An ambulance spokeswoman understood the man had moderate ankle or foot injuries.
