Two injured in Matapihi crash

Two people were taken to hospital after a car crashed into a power pole on Matapihi Rd last night.

Emergency services were called to Matapihi Rd near Puwhariki Rd about 9.30pm yesterday.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the front seat passenger had to be cut out of the car and was taken to hospital with a fractured femur. The back seat passenger was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 19-year-old woman who was driving suffered very minor injuries.

Speed and alcohol appear to have been a factor in the crash, Mr Campion said.
