Mount lifeguard service life member dies

Surf Life Saving New Zealand and Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service Life Member Louis (Lou) Jordain passed away yesterday. 

For well over fifty years, Mr Jordain has been involved in many aspects of surf lifesaving within New Zealand and his Bay of Plenty area.

He was a proud Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service clubbie and a real pioneer in the development of the IRB in New Zealand.

"Surf Life Saving New Zealand sends its heartfelt condolences to Louis' family, his friends and fellow Clubbies. We are a tight-knit family in Surf Life Saving and when something like this happens we all feel an overwhelming sense of loss", said Mark Weatherall,General Manager, Surf Life Saving New Zealand.

"Louis gave a huge amount of time to Surf Life Saving and our sincere sympathies go out to all who knew him", Mr Weatherall said. 

The funeral for Mr Jordain will be at 3 pm Friday 17 May at the Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service Surf Club.
