Sailor breaks leg at sea

A Chinese sailor was taken to hospital late last night after breaking his leg at sea.

Tauranga St John operations team manager Ross Clarke said paramedics were called to the Port of Tauranga to treat the man, who was in his 20s, about 11.15pm last night.

Mr Clarke said the man was injured after a fall on a ship before it came into port. It was not known how far he fell.

The man was taken hospital with a badly broken leg and head injuries, Mr Clarke said.
