Increase in crashes on Bay roads (+poll)

Carelessness on Western Bay roads saw an increase in crashes last month.

The annual Western Bay police Winter Action Plan kicked off last month with officers patrolling the three major state highways in and out of Tauranga.

Western Bay road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said he was disappointed there were eight crashes on the highways during the month compared with five last year.

All the crashes were preventable and many were caused by carelessness at intersections, he said.
