Groups milk promotion

Three local charities received a share of $5000 thanks to a partnership between Pak'nSave Te Awamutu and Fonterra to run an instore promotion.

Customers who bought Anchor Milk received a token to vote for one of three charities: Te Awamutu Lions Club, Te Awamutu Plunket, Te Awamutu Sports and Recreation Club.

At the end of the 12 week promotion donations were presented according to the public vote.

Alan Taylor received $2500 on behalf of Lions and $1500 on behalf of Plunket.

He said Lions would use the money for their Cancer Lodge and Plunket would use their money to fund the ongoing operations of Te Awamutu's Plunket Rooms.

Keith Parsons of Te Awamutu Sports accepted $1000.

He said it would be put towards the proposed indoor sports centre.

Supermarket owner Mike Goble said it was a popular and successful promotion and he plans to repeat it again later this year.
