Police has confirmed that the crash involved two cars, not four as earlier reported.
They have also said that the occupants of the cars have been taken to hospital but no one was seriously injured.
Tow trucks have arrived and police is busy clearing the road.
Two lanes of State Highway 29 have been re-opened.
Traffic is moving again in both directions.
Emergency services are still on route to a report of a four-car crash at Tauriko.
Police and St John ambulance are headed to State Highway 29 in the lower Kaimais.
Inspector Willy Taylor said a car was cut in half in in the crash, which involved four cars.
It is understood the crash has blocked both lanes of the highway.
The report came in at 4.54pm.
It's believed one person has been taken to Tauranga hospital but the severity of injuries could not be confirmed at this stage.
