It's like Christmas came early for Tauranga's Riding for Disabled with a special gift from the Port of Tauranga.
Tauranga RDA will be receiving a cheque for four thousand dollars this Friday from Mark Cairns, CEO of the Port of Tauranga. They will use it to buy a new RDA therapy horse named Kato.
The horse is already at the centre on trial, and has passed every test with flying colours.
"We chose the RDA from suggestions by staff and are delighted to be able to support such a worthy organisation. We're pleased that the gift we were able to give was enough for them to be able to purchase a new therapy horse for their team. I look forward to having a spin on Kato on Friday and hearing about his progress", said Mr Cairns.
Tauranga RDA hopes that other organisations and individuals may be able to follow in the footsteps of Port and support them so they can purchase three more therapy horses.
"Christmas has definitely come early for Tauranga RDA", said Tauranga RDA CEO Kat Macmillan.
"Kato is proving to be a very reliable and special therapy horse and we are extremely grateful to Port of Tauranga. Without horses, we cannot provide our services.
Horses at Tauranga RDA are special to the whole community of the Western Bay of Plenty. They help thousands of people with disabilities achieve their goals and realise their dreams."
