Police stand up to violence against women

Western Bay Police will take part in a tug-of-war next Friday evening to show their support for White Ribbon Day.

White Ribbon Day is the United Nations International Day for the elimination of violence against women and the wearing of a white ribbon has been adopted as the international symbol of opposition to such violence.

From 5.30pm on November 23, police staff will be taking part in the annual event at Fraser Cove Shopping Centre in Tauranga.

White Ribbon Day will be held on November 24.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger call 111.

Women's Refuge Crisis Line also offers a 24-hour helpline service on 0800 REFUGE.
