The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists travelling along SH2 along Hewletts Road and SH2A near Turret Rd to expect some minor delays as night time resurfacing works will take place over the next couple of weeks starting this Sunday night.
The resurfacing works is part of the NZTA's state highway maintenance programme for the Mount Maunganui and Tauranga area.
Acting Bay of Plenty state highways manager, Nigel D'Ath, says the first resurfacing works will start this Sunday 11 November along Hewletts Road from west of Maru Street to the Hewletts Road overbridge.
Speed restrictions will be in place during this night work which is expected to finish at this section of the road on Tuesday night.
On the following Sunday, 18 November, resurfacing works will take place in the same area, but will be from Aerodrome Road to the end of the Hewletts Road overbridge.
Detours will be diverting traffic along Maunganui Rd and Hewletts Rd beneath the overbridge.
This work is expected to finish on Thursday night.
In Tauranga resurfacing works will start next Tuesday night south of the Hairini Bridge to the Maungatapu Roundabout towards Maungatapu only.
A single lane will be open during the work with speed restrictions in place, said Mr D'Ath.
This work is expected to be completed by Thursday night.
The works will all start from 7.00pm and finish by 6.00am on the days of operation, during the daytime traffic will revert back to normal operation.
Mr D'Ath says drivers should adhere to the posted speed restrictions when travelling through the work sites for the safety of workers.
