Bay groups benefit from free postage

Bay of Plenty not-for-profit organisations and community groups are to benefit from an annual New Zealand Post giveaway.

New Zealand Post will give more than 1.2 million 'postage-included' envelopes to non-profit organisations and community programmes throughout New Zealand this year, which includes 406 organisations in the Bay.

This year, for the first time, national organisations were able to make a single application for the free envelopes instead of each branch needing to apply individually.

A wide range of community organisations in Bay of Plenty will benefit from Community Post this year, including the Katikati Masters Swimming Club, Te Puna Memorial Hall, Maketu Volunteer Coastguard, Riding for the Disabled and Volunteer Western Bay of Plenty.

New Zealand Post's head of sponsorship, Nicola Airey, said it's a real pleasure to support organisations such as these as they strive to make real positive impacts in their communities.

"Groups like these, with a passion for improving and informing the communities they live in, deserve to be recognised for the excellent work they do," she said.

"Community Post is our way of expressing gratitude on behalf of the community.

"It's a chance for New Zealand Post to support these groups as they help make the world a better place, one community at a time."
