After a break of four years, Relay for Life is coming back to Tauranga's newly developed Waterfront in March 2013 and the Cancer Society is looking for enthusiastic, community-minded people to help organise the event.
Volunteers will need to be part of an organising committee to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Relay For Life is a fun, overnight event, where teams of ten or more walk around a track for 22 hours, having fundraised before the event. The event is about encouraging everyone to celebrate with those who have overcome cancer, remember their loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back against a disease which affects one in three New Zealanders through fundraising for the Cancer Society.
New Zealand Cancer Society spokeswoman Rachael Mounsey said being involved in the Relay For life organising committee was a great way to make a difference in your community, especially as all funds raised through the event remain in the Waikato/Bay of Plenty region and support people in the community.
