Police are today investigating an armed holdup at the Welcome Bay Foodmarket on Welcome Bay Rd.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said two males were armed with pistols and entered the shop about 6.32pm last night.
The two men took an undisclosed sum of money from the tills, Mr Turner said.
Last night at the scene, police set up road cordons around the area to track the two males, who are believed to be in their 20s.
Mr Turner said the two males were wearing hoodies and three-quarter length shorts, and bandanas covering their faces.
Tauranga police wish to speak to any person in the area at the time or anyone else who may have information about the robbery.
