The best of Western Bay of Plenty builders will be named at an awards ceremony tonight.
The Bay of Plenty Central Plateau 2012 House of the Year event will be held at Mills Reef to celebrate the best in the business.
At least 10 local builders have been named as finalists in the awards, which give gold, silver and bronze placements to specially selected builders in a range of cost categories. An over-arching supreme prize is also awarded.
A Knight Builders, Shaw Builders, Murray Pedersen, Harwood Homes, Asset Homes NZ, Kuriger Builders Tauranga, Home Builders BOP, Peter Richards Builders, Fowler Homes and Riordan Construction are among entrants in this year's competition.
Awards will be recognised by members of the Bay of Plenty and Central Plateau region's Registered Master Builders and the local building industry.
The Bay of Plenty and Central Plateau region's competition includes entries from the Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga and Whakatane areas.
Last year Tauranga builder David Shaw was awarded the PlaceMakers supreme prize after winning the $1-$2million category for new homes, with a two-level house built at Matua.
National category winners, PlaceMakers Supreme Awards for the Renovation of the Year and the House of the Year will be announced in Auckland in November.
