New TECT voting papers have been sent out to customers after errors in the originals,
Warwick Lampp, TECT's independent returning officer, said the new voter packs were designed to look significantly different from the originals, which will be destroyed.
"Voting papers are being re-issued to consumers from today and everyone now has the
chance to participate in this year's important TECT election. The new voter packs are in
orange envelopes, so they should be easily seen in consumers' letterboxes. I expect the
majority of voter packs to be delivered by Monday 30 July," Mr Lampp said.
The twenty-three candidates standing for election have remained unchanged, and all original
votes cast have been set aside and destroyed.
"Any votes cast on the original purple and red voting papers will be invalid and won't count.
For votes to count, they must be completed on the new green and red voting papers, or cast
on-line using the log-in details listed on the new voting papers" Mr Lampp said.
The new voting period closes at midday on Friday, August 17. The election result will
be announced later the same day.
TrustPower is paying for the cost of reissuing the voter packs.
