As much as I love sport, I've never been one for sports biography movies. I love the action in sport but I don't need to know every thought that went into those actions.
However, Rush pleasantly surprised me.
While motorsport nuts will love the story of the rivalry of James Hunt and Niki Lauda, it is possible to enjoy this and not live for the smell of motor oil.
Two men could not be further apart in terms of personality than Hunt and Lauda.
Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) was the flamboyant playboy who raced hard and played harder.
Austrian driver Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) wanted only to be the best driver in the world and would do whatever necessary to achieve that ambition.
The two men first crossed paths in lower-level racing in Britain, and a rivalry was soon established.
As they emerged into the Formula One ranks, this rivalry took both to the very top of the motor racing world.
But Lauda's clinical precision often left Hunt in his wake.
Rush also takes us through a fateful day in 1976 when Lauda came very close to losing his life.
His battle back from that crash and the relationship that developed from the incident showed that beneath the bravado, there was real respect for each other's skills.
Strap yourself in for a high-speed journey.
