Let me start by saying I am not a knitter.
Using arms as knitting needles was such a cool experience though, I am now hooked.
Definitely planning to make more of these big softies.
Arm Knitted
Infinity Scarf
You will need:
3 x Skeins of 100g Super Bulky weight wool
(We got ours for just $2.49 each at Spotlight)
Scissors
1 Put the three ends of the skein together to make one thick thread to work with.
2 You will have one loose end, the 'tail' and one 'working thread' attached to the skein.
3 Cast your first stitch by placing your right hand in a slipknot, pulling the working thread to the left. Wrap the tail around the working thread.
4 Slip your right hand through the new loop and tighten with the tail, this is one stitch.
5 Repeat until you have cast 10 stitches on your right arm.
6 This is the knitting part: run your working thread over right thumb, closing your fist and pulling the stitch off your fist.
7 Drop the stitch you just pulled off and take the working yarn through this to make a new stitch for your left arm. Half twist the wool before you slide it on.
8 Continue until you have transferred (knitted) all 10 stitches across from the right arm to the left arm (called a row).
9 Repeat from arm to arm until you've knitted the desired length scarf.
(Ours was 70cm)
10 Finish with two stitches on the left arm, then knit two across to your right. Use a scrap piece of wool (1.5m) to thread the two raised seams of the scarf together.
11 Turn right side out, thread a piece of wool under and over existing stitches to join the ends together making a circle.
Tuck in loose ends.
