Motorists are still on track to post the lowest October road toll for three decades despite six deaths in recent days.
Four of those have occurred since the official Labour Weekend holiday period began at four o'clock on Friday afternoon.
A motorcyclist was killed during the night on State Highway 34, near Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty.
And a young woman died when a car rolled at Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands this morning.
The road toll for October is now 15, well down on the all-time October low of 39 deaths.
