Aucklanders will shiver through another chilly day as a cold blast envelops New Zealand, continuing to drop snow on the deep south.
The country's biggest city won't be as wet as yesterday - where spectacular thunderstorms brought 30 millimetres of rain in some places - but temperatures will slide throughout the day as cool southerly air moves north.
Temperatures will hover about 10 degrees for most of the afternoon before dropping to single digits this evening.
MetService meteorologist said it could get down to about five degrees tonight in the city and freezing in rural areas.
Any respite is still a while off.
"It's going to be a cold day then it's a cold night tonight and then it's going to be another cold day tomorrow," Mr Law said.
