Police were called to a Bayswater address this morning after a builder located a piece of military ordinance under a house.
Police were called to the Beresford Street address just after 8am.
The builder who reported the find carried what he believed was a bomb to the back of the section and left it there.
Police called in the Ordinance Team from the NZ Defence Force who took the ordinance away.

Police say that they advise any found ordinance be left in situ and call police rather than carrying it to another location.
