A front approaches the far south while a ridge affects the rest of the country. On Monday,a frontal rainband associated with approaching Cyclone Gita over the north Tasman Sea,spreads across the North Island. Cyclone Gita is expected to move east across central New Zealand sometime late Tuesday into Wednesday.
