ATHENS, Greece — Citing security concerns, Greece's Supreme Court has changed the venue for the 15 December trial of two policemen over the fatal shooting of a teenager.
The 15-year-old's death sparked massive riots in Greek cities last year, and police feared violent protests at the initial trial venue in the town of Halkida, near Athens.
The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the trial held in Amfissa, 200 kilometres west of the capital.
The two policemen are charged with murder and attempted murder for the shooting in central Athens, which followed an altercation between the officers and a group of youths.
The charges carry a maximum life sentence.
The policemen claim the teenager died from a ricochet after they fired a warning shot in the air.
