NEW YORK — A New York City woman convicted of killing her father and mutilating his body has been sentenced to five to 15 years in prison.

After sentencing, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown called the crime deeply disturbing and said he hopes 28-year-old Brigitte Harris will receive counselling in prison.

Harris was convicted in September of manslaughter and weapons possession in the 2007 slaying of 55-year-old Eric Goodridge.

Prosecutors say Harris lured her father to her Queens apartment, handcuffed and gagged him, duct-taped a towel around his head and strangled him.

They say she castrated Goodridge after he died.

Both Harris and her older sister publicly claimed Goodridge had sexually abused them from early childhood.

Harris' lawyer and sister went public with her name.
