Parkinson's sufferers got their groove back with the help of a world-renowned choreographer.
The Mark Morris Dance Group from New York are in Auckland for the first time in their 28-year history for Mozart Dances.
To the music of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, dancers will perform ballet lifts and poses choreographed by Mark Morris.
The show runs until Friday but about 10 members of the Parkinsonism Society, of varying ages and level of mobility, got a preview as they took part in a workshop at the Civic.
Morris gives dance classes for people with Parkinson's disease at his New York headquarters.
Dance is said to help loosen tight joints, improve overall movement, and generally lift spirits.
* Mozart Dances runs at the Civic until Friday, tickets from Ticketek.
