A puppy has been rescued after its mouth and eyes were superglued in a shocking case of animal abuse.
The canine - a Jack Russell-Parsons terrier believed to be about eight months old - was found lying on the side of the road in Kansas suffering from heavy bruising to her abdomen.
Taking to social media, Beauties and Beasts Inc animal shelter posted pictures of the poor puppy explaining the horrors it had been through.
"She has ulcerations on her eyes with sight vision and a tear in her lip and large bruising to her abdomen, she is lucky to be alive and expected to make a full recovery," the post reads.
"She didn't ask to be left in the hands of someone that chose to intentionally hurt her and left her for dead.
"Upon examination Dr Alex was in disbelief of this heinous act of cruelty. It is speculated she may have been in this condition for 24-48 hours."
The puppy's fortunes have since turned around after hundreds of empathetic animal lovers donated towards the medical bills that helped the young pup recover from the horrible abuse.
So far more than US$3000 has been raised.
Authorities are still searching for whoever is responsible.
